A stunning, early quilt in a flying geese bar pattern, hand pieced and hand quilted. This quilt is a study in early fabrics! The quilting is done in both cream and blue threads. The pink bars are quilted in a circle motif. There are a few blemishes to note, there are two chew marks in the binding on one end and a few age-related dark marks scattered throughout, to me they look like areas of dye migration on front(see images). There are some darker, smaller marks on the backing. The fabrics are absolutely gorgeous. Tons of examples of early prints, including beautiful Prussian blues, indigos, madder prints and various pinks. There are maybe one or two splits in a triangle or two, but overall this quilt hasn't been used and the fabrics are in really wonderful condition. The backing is a bar-back, in three different (amazing) lengths of fabric. There is one little tear on the back (see where the red embroidery thread was tacked on). This is a great piece for collectors and early fabric enthusiasts and/or print designers.
