A stunning, rare pattern from circa 1840 to 1850 with provenance on written paper containing quilter's name and some other related details. This would make a wonderful research piece. The chrome moons are a rare find, with quilting that mimics the crescent edges of the moons. It is entirely hand stitched, from the piecing to the quilting. The fabrics are stunning, early prints and while many are in fine shape, others have succumbed to time and there is fabric loss in several places throughout. Someone has carefully restored one of the inner rings of the star with a blue feather print. Given the age, this quilt has remained carefully cared for and stands to delight us with its patterns and fabrics. It displays beautifully and makes a wonderful addition to a collection.
