Antique 19th Century Compass Quilt

Like a Mariner's Compass pattern, hand pieced and hand quilted. The setting of the compasses is done in the round and the compasses themselves boast many tight points. The colors are faded by time and yet still lovely as they are. A sought after pattern due to the complicated construction and overall visual appeal of the compasses. The hand quilting is done in a chevron with a single rod on the head and foot border edges.

Condition: Poor. Many signs of use and wear. Some seam separations, overall toning and some significant thinning and shred to the top and bottom edge of the quilt. The backing is severely thinned and showing batting consistently. Would do well with some loving restoration work.

Weight: Light, thin and drapey.
