Antique Album Quilt c1855

Wow! The colors and dyes on this 1850’s album quilt are to die for with chromes and prussian blues stealing the stage, supported by various other lovely florals and prints. There are signatures in every block center, with a few lost or blurred with time. Many names are discernible offering ample research opportunities.

The locations are listed as Lebanon and Watertown suggesting a New York provenance. There are many areas of wear and some fabric loss. This has been aired, unwetted to protect the ink signatures. There are some water stains to the backing. From the striped sashing to the bold blocks, this quilt displays beautifully.
