Antique Carpenter's Star Quilt ca 1890

A stunning, hand pieced and hand quilted patchwork quilt from the end of the 19th century, around the turn. It is great condition and has been freshly hand soaked with mild soap to cleanse and brighten. It has been air dried and it ready for home. The fabrics and scraps used to compose the stars are magnificent with really wonderful color and pattern combinations in every single block. There are some fugitive reds, tan fabrics that were once bought red as well as some fugitive greens. The sashing itself was likely once bright red.

The quilting is done in white, green and black, with consideration taken in the placement. There are a few small seam separations and some general toning which do little to detract from its overall beauty and visual impact.
