Antique Chintz Center Medallion Quilt c1830

A stunning, well-preserved, early 19th century quilt. It is hand pieced using large sections of beautiful cotton and chintz. The very center of the medallion boasts some needle point, with a decorative scalloped boarder framing a set of initials. Surrounding the center block are sections containing fussy cut applique, broderie perse, in the form of flowers, leaves, and hearts, with some of the chintz flowers still showing glaze. The dark plum adds a gorgeous richness to the overall color palette.

Condition: Best for collection, handle with care. No signs of use, well kept. Some scattered, light storage stains.

Note: The most notable damage is found in the lighter colored half triangles where the dark brown/black stems and vines have dropped out, showing batting in their absence throughout. Please view in the photos.
