Antique Eight Point Star Patchwork Quilt c1880

A gorgeous, hand pieced and hand quilted patchwork quilt in eight point star blocks. The star blocks are sent in a double pink stripe, on point, and alternate with a pale blue vermicelli print cotton. The stars are comprised of wonderful shirtings in pinks, blues, greens and browns of the late 1800s. The binding is a lovely, hand stitched blue. 

Condition: Good. The quilt is sound and soft, well stored. **There are two blotches of brown surrounded by some localized fade in one blue block in the upper left quarter. There is one small, coin-sized mend done by hand on a right hand star as shown. Some other minor thinning to a few diamonds here or there. The back is clean and bright.
