Antique Flying Geese Quilt

A 19th century, hand pieced quilt in deep indigo with chrome orange. A rare example of late 19th century machine quilting! The quilting is done in a chain down the sashing and a double rod elsewhere. It is done in a brown cotton thread and a white cotton thread specific to each area. Foldover binding from back to front. The texture of this quilt is exceptional with very little sign of wear. Colors are rich and saturated.

Freshly washed

Condition: Very good. The most significant thing to note is an area of reaction from a cleaning agent with the chrome dyes which has bleached them to pale green in that concentrated area only.

Weight: Medium to light, very soft *great* feel
