Hand pieced and hand quilted, this quilt is constructed with cloth typically worn during times of mourning in the late 19th Century. The pattern is a classic Double Irish Chain. Some say quilts like these, with mourning prints, were made to mark or honor the loss of a loved one. This quilt has significant toast, toning to the edges and backing from storage but has been freshly hand washed. See condition below:
This quilt is labeled and documented as part of the New York Quilt Project, a documentation initiative launched by the American Folk Art Museum 1989 to 1991 in New York State.
Condition: Fair. Freshly washed. Never used. Has toning/toast to the very edges and backing from storage. Main body bright and wonderful. Fabrics in excellent condition.
