Antique Patchwork Chain Quilt c1920

Half square triangles set in bars with interlocking “chain links” quilted into the yellow gingham setting fabric between each bar. The triangles boast a lovely group of fabric scraps and the yellow gingham used throughout is a small scale print in sunny butter yellow. The backing is a shirting style cotton in white and pale purple which has been pieced by hand to reach edge to edge. 

The blocks measure 7 x 7 inches and the sashing is 3.5 inches wide. The binding is hand applied, the same yellow gingham.

Condition: Near mint, a small light brown storage mark in the upper left quarter. No signs of use. Collector’s quality.
