Antique Pine Burr Quilt, 19th Century

Visually stunning, this hand pieced and hand quilted 19th century quilt displays beautifully. While the center squares show fugitive dyes faded to a soft Oatmeal tan they're flanked by the brilliant orange commonly referred to as cheddar. The tiny, half triangles are comprised of various lovely scraps madder browns and reds and some turkey reds, with little pops of blue here and there. There is some staining, pale tan, from the dyes migrating over the years. The binding is a sturdy printed binding. The backing is carefully mended with a large patch, the backing looks to be hand woven linen, or a hefty woven cotton. Over all, unique and beautiful quilt.
