Antique Pink & White Flying Geese Quilt

A hand pieced and hand quilted Flying Geese quilt in a New England style to accommodate a poster bed. Shaped in a “T” there are drop down panels on the sides and foot to drape the bed with cutouts to accommodate the foot posts. What makes this quilt extra special is the hand embroidery, with pulled work, in the side and foot panels. The flower motif has been backed with matching pink cotton on the inside to shine through the eyelets of the pulled work. Truly beautiful, an example of skilled hand work.

It has two ink inscriptions on the back corner which may be decipherable to a strong eye. Likely provenance.

Condition: Excellent. Some minor fading to the pink in some areas from light. A few tiny dark pin spots as shown.

Measures: 79 x 94 inches total ( Pink Flying Geese area - top of the bed- measures 64 x 65 edge to edge without panels) Drape panels measures 15” each
