Antique Star Quilt c1880

A stunning hand pieced and hand quilted star quilt out of New Jersey. Each block boasts a single hand pieced star with the two top and bottom corner stars on the left side set into more of a cross shaped block setting. The blocks are hand set into the wide red calico sashing.Likely never used, the colors are bold and there is no wear or loss. The binding is a machine applied in indigo blue and the backing off-white cotton.

Condition: Mint (Please note that some of the inner black on the figures of the red sashing and border have disintegrated. This is inevitable and present on most quilts with this fabric style so I do not consider it a major flaw. It is visible only upon very careful inspection).

Weight: Light weight, thin batting/low loft
