Antique Sunflower Sunburst Quilt

Hand pieced and hand quilted in the fourth quarter of the 19th century. The blocks are expertly pieced, in the round with perfect little radiating points and set between wide maroon sashing measuring 3.5 inches. The block designs are beautifully composed with striking color combinations and exciting prints. The hand quilting is done in an outline and alternating blocks have some decorative points quilted into their inner corners. The backing is constructed predominantly with a mourning grey in a black polka dot print, as well as a small section of floral mourning grey to complete.

Condition: Excellent. Some small pale storage stains and a few minor splits within the blocks, very small. Note the slight loss of color in the blue block.

Weight: Light to medium, soft
