Antique Trip Around The World Quilt c1890

The center patchwork is hand pieced and machine set into a turkey red border. The quilt is framed in a scalloped Lancaster blue outer border with hand stitched, applied binding. The backing is a beautiful printed cotton. 

Condition: Fair. Some toning, fading and graying to the blue outer border, some wear to red binding in places. Some of the turkey red patches have thinned and split. A third have been mended over with a new red. The inner blue patches have been hand mended, patched with a small blue gingham print. Some scattered marks that blend with the pattern. The back is lovely.
