Bar-Backed Double Pink & Indigo Antique Quilt, ca 1900

A stunning antique quilt, hand pieced and hand quilted in good condition. The design is really wonderful, from the pieced blocks, to the wide, bold border and the Pennsylvania style bar backing in indigo resist and coral calico. The fabrics used within the blocks are extremely charming, some as early as the middle of the 19th century. The cherry blossoms take the cake! It seems to have received a new red binding in later years. There are a few age related marks and a few blocks have some thinning, with one tan block showing the most loss. The figures on the indigo bars on the back are lost. Overall it's a gorgeous, and unique antique quilt.
