A unique, early 19th century quilt inscribed with names of the maker and the recipient, as well as a date of 1845. This quilt is sashed in a gorgeous, early block print and the blocks themselves, which have faded due to age, are a wonderful early print which now read brown and white. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Note the rub away inside the brown lines in many places in the white blocks. There is some rub away in the figures in the green sashing in certain areas like the ends of the center folds. The main inscription is on an edge block, by hand written ink and there is a second inscriptions on the back corner with a set of initials also hand inked. A wonderful addition to a collection.
This is a beautiful and unique early quilt in a color we don't often have the delight of seeing.
