Capital T Antique Quilt c1880

A beautiful, hand pieced and hand quilted “Capital T” quilt. Some say the T in this block pattern stands for Temperance and that this pattern emerged through the hands of makers during the Women's Temperance Movement. This quilt is well loved and softened. It is freshly aired. The red and black Paisley is a gorgeous bold print and compliments the light tones in the quilt well. There is some toasting to a few of the blocks (dye has transferred during a past washing) and fabric loss to about 5 blocks which are mostly half blocks on the edges. There is some thinning in other small areas. The quilting is done in both white and colored thread.
