Indigo Patchwork Quilt c1900

A soft, hand stitched antique quilt with a pale pink, home-dyed backing. This quilt is hand pieced and quilted by hand in a dyed pink cotton thread. The pattern offers surprising pops of burgundy, randomly added with intention, by the quiltmaker, no doubt. It is freshly washed, very soft, and a wonderful example of a turn of the century American patchwork quilt full of calicos and other clothing prints.

Condition: Good. Freshly washed. Some fading to the home-dyed backing and some dark spots on the binding which did not pale with washing. One, small, two-inch tear on the reverse with a tiny hole to front at its very center.
