Inscribed Antique Postage Stamp Quilt c1911

Inscribed Ethel (last name) and the date,1911, on the back converter edge in ink, this hand pieced quilt is a study in stamp-sized prints of the late 19th century. You will note that the dark brown border has succumbed to fabric rot and has worn away and split in many places, as have many of the brown postage stamp scraps within the inner blocks. There are some water marks to the double pinks in places. The back is in good condition, a sturdy cream white cotton. This is hand pieced and hand quilted. This is a great quilt for fabric study.

Condition: Poor. Fabric loss and thinning to the dark border (could be restored with a new border), water marks, bleed of dark browns, loss of small postage stamps within several blocks. Sturdy overall in the main body.
