Postage Square in a Square Quilt

This is a quirky quilt with a few surprises. First, it was completed circa 1940 but boasts an INCREDIBLE, hand pieced quilt top circa 1880/1890 full of hundreds and hundreds of tiny blocks. It is a true study in 19th century fabrics. Secondly, there is another quilt inside of it. It was finished in the mid 20th century with a ribbon print backing which is visible on the front as well on two adjacent sides. The whole quilt is hand tied with white yarn.

Condition: Good. Some yellowing to the 1940s border and a few minor splits as shown.
