Ruby McKim Flower Garden Quilt, c1930

This quilt design comes from Ruby McKim's Flower Garden Series, 1929 pattern. It is beautifully hand stitched and the maker executed the pattern very well. It is in beautiful condition. 

Collector's quality, freshly washed for the first time. Has a great, soft "quilt crinkle".  Some minor toning to the fabric used in the embroidered blocks. Hand stitched and hand quilted. The quilter did not hide their knots and those knots are visible on the backing. The flowers are in very good condition with one red chrysanthemum showing thread loss. 

The picket fence is bright white, surrounded by mint green. 

Ruby McKim is a very well known quilt pattern designer of the early to mid 20th century. As an artist who enjoyed drawing from a young age, many of her designs are recognizable in that they include embroidered blocks resembling line "drawings" like these flowers.
