Section of Antique Quilt Top, ca 1890

A lovely, hand pieced, antique quilt top section which looks to be at the start of the piecing process as opposed to trimmed. Someone began this top and didn't finish it. The stitches are secured at the edges and some knots are visible on the back. Tons of gorgeous 19th century fabrics including the indigo crescent we love so much. Some fugitive dyes, in the purple especially, and some toasting to a few of the white patches. Over all, good conference.
