The Sloane House Quilt

A 19th century red & white Irish chain quilt, freshly washed, from the late 1800s. It is inscribed with ink in the back corner: “Sloane House”. This gorgeous, hand pieced Irish chain is impeccably hand quilted. The white blocks boast skilled stitching which carries throughout the entire piece. There is minimal wear, signs of use showing on the binding with the fray in places along the top edge binding. Displays beautifully.

Condition: Excellent. Freshly washed with some pale residual yellow in a couple of places. There are some small areas of fade on the red chain, as shown, due to light exposure. Some wear to the binding.

Weight: Medium. Great crinkle, crisp/clean cotton feel. Good drape.
