Unique Vintage Patchwork Quilt with Ruffles c1940

The most darling patchwork quilt, circa 1940, full of sweetness and whimsy! The pattern is unique and utilizes tons of early 20th century prints with some earlier scraps worked in. The piecing is a mix of hand and machine, and the quilting is all done by hand. The icing on the cake is the marvelous ruffle along the binding, perhaps added at a later date. Most of it is a gray and red stripe (very French flavored) with some additional, plain blue where that runs out. The backing is also an unexpected delight, a bright, clean, woven orange & blue plaid. The overall effect is just lovely.

Freshly washed

Condition: Good. There are a few marks on the ribbon edge and there is one block that incorporated a white fabric that disintegrated (see photos). Overall th quilt is in wonderful condition, soft and a gorgeous, clean backing.
